July Evening

Fireflies blink in the warmth of Summer twilight, creating constellations in the midnight air.

This piece was created in the pearl-of-a-still-moment I caught during a dramatic life transition. At the end of a long day of moving furniture to my new out-of-state apartment, my parents drove home leaving me to the still of my freshly settled place. The light from my bedroom window poured out onto my porch; it was the perfect place to set up an easel. Over the next two hours “July Evening” took shape on the canvas, forever capturing the warm, entrancing, melancholy of a strangely familiar scene in an unfamiliar place.
